1* The scientific and cultural rehabilitations:

a- The computer - the LIB was the first Arabic institution which opened to the blind the door towards the world of computers especially designed for the blind. When the Braille software was available, it was integrated into the rehabilitation program. The founder Dr. Issa El- Maalouf was able - in 1988 - to Arabise the Braille screen or the electronic line that allowed the blind to use the computer in Arabic.

To be noted that LIB received blind people from the Arab countries who came to follow computer training programs.

b- The talking library offers all types of books recorded on audio cassettes.

c- The printed library offers books printed in “Braille”.

d- Typing: LIB trains the blind to type on the regular typewriter in Arabic and foreign languages in addition to typing in “Braille”.

e- Braille: LIB teaches the blind how to read and how to write “Braille”.

f- Languages: LIB has established programs to teach foreign languages for the blind.

g- Servicing the blind university students:

LIB offers special services for the blind university students namely:
* typing their books or recording them on audio tapes
* providing them with transport between their houses and the university according to their university schedules
* providing a portable computer which can be lent to outstanding students who make use of it in the lectures by saving the lectures on the computer and then printing them out at their convenience.

2* Professional Rehabilitation:

Building on the belief that “all the goodness is achieved by teaching a blind how to fish instead of giving him a fish”, LIB taught the blind who are not interested in academic education, a career which can help them make a decent living.

The careers taught were:
a- Production of chairs
b- Bamboo manufacturing
c- Automatic knitting
d- Rope manufacturing

It is worth noting that the handmade work undertaken by the LIB blind is considered to be very precise and unique artisan work which is truly considered the best in the market.

e- LIB teaches how to play on musical instruments and has its own special music band made out about thirty people. The incomes of charity parties held by Lib music band contribute to cover some LIB expences.
